How I Got Perfect Vision Naturally in My 50s (5 Easy Habits)

How I Got Perfect Vision Naturally in My 50s 5 Easy Habits

For many of us, our vision tends to decline as we age. I used to have 20/80 vision, which meant I struggled to see anything clearly from a distance—imagine trying to watch TV from the other end of a tennis court! However, through dedication and the right practices, I improved my vision to 20/15, which is even better than what’s required to be a fighter pilot. Here’s how I did it with five easy habits that can help you enhance your eyesight naturally.

1. Focus Shifting

The first exercise I recommend is called focus shifting. This simple practice trains your eyes like you would train your muscles. To perform this exercise, hold your finger in front of you and shift your focus between your finger and something further behind it. Then, switch back and forth. It’s like zooming in and out with a camera lens. You can even do this at a stoplight or while sitting at your desk. This exercise strengthens your eye muscles and improves your focus.

2. Block Toxic Blue Light

In today’s digital age, exposure to blue light is unavoidable, especially from screens. However, blocking out harmful blue light is crucial for eye health. I use TrueDark glasses, which filter out the bad blue light (under 490 nanometers) while allowing beneficial blue light that keeps you alert. By reducing eye strain caused by screens and artificial lighting, you can significantly improve your visual comfort and overall eye health.

3. Use Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy is another effective method I incorporate into my routine. It has direct benefits for your mitochondria and helps reduce inflammation in the eyes. Using LED lights over your closed eyes for just 10 minutes can energize your eye cells. This practice is backed by studies showing improvements in vision when reading under red light. It’s a simple yet powerful way to regenerate your eyes.

4. Eat Eye-Healthy Foods

Your diet plays a vital role in maintaining good vision. Foods rich in antioxidants, such as lutein and zeaxanthin, are essential for eye health. You can find these nutrients in yellow foods like egg yolks, yellow squash, and leafy greens like arugula.

5. Practice the Bates Method

The Bates Method involves training your eyes to improve focus naturally. You can start by placing a small dot on a piece of paper a few feet in front of you. Focus on the dot, then relax your vision and look around the paper without focusing. This practice helps your brain and eyes work together more effectively. As you become aware of any tension while focusing, you’ll learn to relax your body, making it easier to maintain clarity in your vision.

Bonus Habit: Cupping for Relaxation

As a bonus, I recommend the cupping technique. This practice, derived from yoga, involves rubbing your hands together to generate warmth and then gently cupping your palms over your closed eyes. Block out all light and take deep breaths for about 30 seconds. This simple exercise can help restore calmness to your eyes, especially after prolonged exposure to harsh lighting.

Conclusion

These five habits have transformed my vision and can help you too. By incorporating focus shifting, blocking blue light, using red light therapy, eating the right foods, and practicing eye exercises, you can significantly improve your eyesight naturally. Don’t forget to spend some time outdoors without glasses or contacts, as natural sunlight can also contribute positively to your vision.

Remember, you don’t always need glasses to achieve clear vision. With dedication and these practices, you might find yourself seeing the world in a whole new light.
